This painting from the “Mothers” series was featured in the artist’s solo exhibition at Edmonton’s “The After Hours Gallery” in Canada from July 6 to September 3, 2026.
The “Mothers” series is dedicated to the allegory of motherhood, which she explores through the images of Canadian animals. This series features a second theme: we observe animals, but they also observe us, completely defenseless against humans. Sadly, this series also touches on the topic of animal deaths during wars between humans. Natalia came to Canada with her child from Ukraine in 2022 due to the outbreak of hostilities, and this topic is very important to her. Many women were forced to leave their homes and relatives and take their children to various safe countries, and this message returns us to the theme of motherhood.
The paintings are oil on canvas in the artist’s original style, which she developed over several years.
